GATES COMPUTERS ARE UP AND RUNNING

Great news!! Twenty four Gateway computers donated by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have been installed in the Main and branch libraries. Thanks to Scotty Sexton, pictured on the left for a great job installing them. We invite patrons to check them out.

Letcher County Public Libraries awarded a $4, 321.00 grant for TOTS Program (Training our Toddlers Skills)

On November 15, the Harry M. Caudill Memorial Library will start an exciting program for infants & toddlers in the community. Jenay Hall and Bonnie Asher will administer TOTS, a program designed to introduce and encourage the use of the public library for expectant and experienced parents, grandparents and professional caregivers caring for infants and toodlers. The TOTS program is made possible through a grant from the Institue of Museum and Library Services and Technology Act.

The grant will be utilized to purchase materials, equipment and supplies for infants to three years old and their caregivers. An in house program at the main library and an outreach program at the Applachian Day Care Center will be offered biweekly. Parents, caregivers, with their infants and toddlers are urged to participate in this program which will start on November 15, 2006 at 10:30 AM and will continue every other Wednesdays at the Main Library .
