Any patron who lives, works, or is enrolled in a school and pay taxes in Letcher County may register for a library card. THe patron must present a valid driver's license or any proof of identification. Any child accompanied by a guardian or parent may register for a library card. Each card is uniquely bar-coded and will have a pin number to enable any patron to view their library accounts on line. The main library, its branches and the bookmobile will be issuing these cards beginning November 1, 2004. The library card is good at all Letcher County libraries including the Bookmobile. Book borrowers will be asked to present their cards when borrowing library materials. To obtain a card, please note the following policies: Eligibility:
Adult and children's books: fiction and non fiction are loaned for 14 days and are renewable for another two weeks. Videos and DVD's are loaned for two day and may be renewed for additional two days. Books on Tape and CD's are loaned for two weeks. Periodicals maybe checked for two days except for current issues. Weekly children's hour Once a month exhibit Computers with internet access Interlibrary loans throughout Kentucky Copying and Fax machines Special programs and workshops Meeting rooms may reserved for educational and social activities . A fee of $20.00 is charged for social activities, and a refundable fee of $10.00 is required for deposit for keys. Microfilms and reader machine. KET Satellite Programming Hours of operation: Same as HMCL. A variety of used and new books are for sale at the Bookstore located at the lower level of the library. Close to 5000 books are reasonably priced and includes pocket books, fiction and nonfiction adult and children's books, reference, arts and crafts books. Shelves of books are constantly stocked.
