BTOP ( Broadband Technology Opportunites Program)

 

 

We are a Public Library Workforce Center. (PLWC)

A federal grant of $29,000 money was awarded to Letcher County to upgrade our computer facilities to help our citizens attain computer literacy, resume writing, basic computer skills, online job searches, filling up online employment applications, orientation to unemployment benefits, and basic health care information.

With grant money, the library has purchased 10 laptops for training and has contracted trainers to teach computer courses.

Here is a calendar of computer training courses:
February 7th: Photo Sharing : will focus on uploading pictures to photo sharing sites such as Flicker

Febraury 21: Basic Job Searching. Students will be taught hands on on how to access on line job databases for job searching.

These classes require a working knowledge of basic computer skills.

 

January 2012 Classes (All classes start at 4:00PM and ends at 7:00PM

January 10th (Tuesday) E BAY. THis course will introduce students to this site and will inofrm them how to buy and sell items.

January 24th: (Tuesday) Social Networking. Introduce students to several social netwroking sites with an emphasis on FACEBOOK.
